First, a word about cholera:|
Recent epidemiologic research suggests that an individual's susceptibility to cholera (and other diarrhoeal infections) is affected by their blood type: Those with type O blood are the most susceptible, while those with type AB are the most resistant. Between these two extremes are the A and B blood types, with type A being more resistant than type B. Wikipedia
I have type A!
A simple rule of thumb is "Boil it, cook it, peel it, or forget it. " CDC
It’s treatable simply by rehydration of water, salts, and sugars.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed preparing for my trip! The fund-raising, supplies, inoculations, but the best part is the spiritual preparation! I’m learning what to say and how to phrase the words of life to the Zambian people. I am reading through Acts to give me a refresher on what happened and I’m reading Charnock’s “The Knowledge of God” to really push my thinking of Biblical principals. The Acts of the Apostles has revealed to me that I should be careful what I say because there is a lot of talk that the Jews would understand clearly, but the Tongas in Zambia would not understand. For instance, when news came to the Christians in Jerusalem that Gentiles were being saved it was assumed that the Jewish culture and the law would prevail. Not so. For the Church in Jerusalem sent a letter saying that simply they should abstain from sexual immorality and eating strangled animals and things polluted by idols. Acts 15:1-32 They were to focus on loving one-another. For love is from God and Christians have had the love of God poured out in our hearts. Thus, peace. This peace He has given us that we should be one because of such love and our light will be known to all men. For light reveals the nature of God. The light He gives us will bring glory to Him for the fame of His name forever!
